Belgian Roland Duchâtelet to become 100% owner of Charlton Athletic (English Championship)

Belgian entrepreneur Roland Duchâtelet has become the owner of Charlton Athletic (Championship, the English second division) the club announced, on the 03/01/2014. His company, Staprix NV has acquired 100% of the club’s shares, said Charlton Athletic. The acquisition would reach £ 14 million (approximately € 17 million), according to the British press.

Richard Murray, former chairman of Charlton Athletic and member of the Board, has become non-executive chairman: "I look forward to using my long experience in English football to continue to represent the club that has been my passion for many years", he said on the 03/01/2014.

"Roland Duchâtelet is an investor with extensive knowledge of football who is well placed to stabilise the club in the Championship and help the club to develop on a sensible commercial basis", said Michael Slater, the outgoing chairman.
