UEFA: Aleksander Ceferin (SVN) the sole presidential candidate up for election on 07/02/2019

UEFA has received only one candidature for the UEFA presidency (for a four-year term, 2019-2023), that of current president Aleksander Ceferin (Slovenia), on the deadline of Wednesday 07/11/2018 (three months to the day, before the elective congress scheduled in Rome, ITA, on Thursday 07/02/2019) according to UEFA on 08/11/2018.

Aleksander Ceferin, was elected as president of UEFA at the 12^th Extraordinary Congress in Athens (GRE), on 14/09/2016. The Slovenian won with 42 votes versus 13 for Michael van Praag (NED) in the first and only round of voting.

Ceferin, a lawyer and president of the Football Association of Slovenia since 2011 (re-elected for four years in February 2015), succeeded Michel Platini (FRA), who had been UEFA president since 26/01/2007, but was suspended from any official duties in football on 08/10/2015 until 08/10/2019.
