Ligue 1 Conforama: no urban project with new FC Nantes stadium, La Beaujoire will not be destroyed

"After a year of consultation, listening and analysis, and noting that the conditions of success of the project (YelloPark) presented were not met, I take three decisions today: there will be no urban project and no housing will be built on the entire site of La Beaujoire; I have agreed to Waldemar Kita (owner of FC Nantes, Ligue 1 Conforama) for the construction of a new stadium; and the Stade Beaujoire-Louis Fonteneau (35,550 capacity) will not be demolished," stated Johanna Rolland, Mayor of Nantes and President of Nantes Métropole (FRA), on 09/11/2018.

This announcement marks the end of YelloPark, an urban and real estate project that was to include, around the new 40,000-seater stadium, a sports and well-being complex, housing and local businesses market, and parking. The urban project was contested by both local residents, opposed to the construction of new buildings in their neighborhood, and by some supporters who still do not want to see the Stade de la Beaujoire disappear.
