eSports: Hamburger SV (2.Bundesliga) creates a professional team on the FIFA video game

Hamburger SV (2.Bundesliga) have created a professional eSports team on the EA Sports video game, said the club, on 08/11/2018. "After the foundation of the eSports department of HSV e.V. in October, the involvement in virtual football will be expanded," said the club which is launching in partnership with its exclusive marketing agency Lagardère Sports and the eSports agency eSportsReputation.

"We see virtual football as an indispensable extension to our core product football. We have to optimise the interaction with our young fans and create exclusively tailored content for this target group. After our successful test phase last year with the VBL Clubcards, we are now looking forward to the next step and the sustainable cooperation between amateur and professional sports," said Florian Riepe, senior vice-president marketing and international markets at HSV.
