"I can easily confirm that FIFA's (Fédération Internationale de Football Association) position as to the timing of the 2022 World Cup as not changed since its executive committee of the 03/10/2013: a wide consultation process and no hasty decision, as the EPFL had requested," said Frédéric Thiriez, president of the LFP (French Professional Football League) and the EPFL (the Association of European Professional Football Leagues), on the 08/01/2014.

"In my capacity as chairman of the EPFL, I had the opportunity to meet with President Blatter this morning in Zurich in the presence of Jerome Valcke" says Frédéric Thiriez, who concluded about the World Cup in Qatar. "Nothing new under the sun"

Frédéric Thiriez was in Zurich with EPFL vice president Frank Rutten, CEO of the Dutch League.

"It will be held between the 15/11 and the 15/01 at the latest", had clearly stated a few hours earlier Jérôme Valcke, broadcast on France Inter and France Info, when asked about the 2022 World Cup. Playing between the 15/11 and the end of December, that’s the time when the weather conditions are best."
