Qatar 2022: "All the ingredients are there for an unforgettable event" (Gianni Infantino, FIFA)

"All the ingredients are there to make the World Cup in 2022 an unforgettable event. It will be a very compact World Cup, all the stadiums are within a one-hour maximum distance from each other," said Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA, on 21/11/2018, four years to the day, before the beginning of the XXII World Cup, scheduled in Qatar from 21/11 to 18/12/2022.

"It will be a World Cup hosted by a country, which has all the infrastructure and the possibilities ready to welcome the world to Qatar. The climate will be great as well in November/December - it's between 15-25°C in Doha and this is ideal conditions for such a sporting event," added the president of the International Federation on the FIFA.com website.

"The 2022 World Cup will be held in November-December and the final of the event will be scheduled on Sunday 18/12/2022, 'Qatar National Day'," announced FIFA on 19/03/2015, in an attempt to avoid the high temperatures (above 40°C) experienced by the small Emirate of the Persian Gulf in June-July.
