Bundesliga: €118.7m in revenue (-4%) and €0.5m net profit for SV Werder Bremen in 2017-18

SV Werder Bremen GmbH & Co. KGaA, the commercial company wholly owned by the Sport Verein Werder Bremen (Bundesliga) association, posted consolidated revenue of €118.7m for the 2017-18 financial year (from 01/07/2017 to 30/06/2018), down 4% compared to 2016-17 (€123.5m), according to the Bremen club (GER) at its general assembly on 26/11/2018.

Media rights were the largest source of revenue for Werder in 2017-18 (+46.3%), due to the entry of Bundesliga clubs into a new TV rights cycle (2017-2021). Werder Bremen posted a net profit of €500,000 in 2017-18, compared to €700,000 in 2016-17.

"Despite new challenges, we remain positive for the third time in a row. With this stable annual income, we will continue to be able to work on a solid economic basis. We are gaining more room to manoeuvre and will gradually become less dependent on transfer revenues in the Bundesliga," said Klaus Filbry, CEO of Werder Bremen.
