O. Lyonnais: record attendance for a European Cup game at Groupama Stadium versus Manchester City

With 56,039 spectators in attendance for the Olympique Lyonnais - Manchester City FC game (2-2, Matchday 5 of the Champions League) on 27/11/2018, the Groupama Stadium set a new record for a European Cup match, according to the Lyon-based (FRA) club on 28/11/2018.

"Just a few days after the very good attendance for the derby versus AS Saint-Etienne (Matchday 14 of the Ligue 1 Conforama, on Friday 23/11/2018) with 55,701 spectators, the Décines (Rhône) stadium once again rose to the occasion on Tuesday evening. A splendid buzz in the north bend, songs and other encouragement... the Lyon fans got in tune to support their team and help them to achieve this great performance," added Olympique Lyonnais.

"We saw the stadium tonight as I had dreamed with more than 56,000 people present and supporters on both sides. It's remarkable publicity for top-level football," said Jean-Michel Aulas, chairman of Olympique Lyonnais.
