G20: "Football can bring us together and make the world more prosperous and peaceful" (G. Infantino)

"Football can bring us together and make the world a more prosperous, educated, equal and, perhaps even, peaceful place. These are also the priorities of world leaders, and FIFA is honoured to be a credible and reliable partner for them," said Gianni Infantino, president of FIFA at the G20 Summit in Buenos Aires (ARG) on 01/12/2018.

The G20, founded in 1999 in the form of meetings between finance ministers and central bank governors, has 20 members (19 states and the European Union) including: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, and the European Union.

"There are at least five areas where football can convey a message of hope and be used as a powerful tool: economic growth, which includes infrastructural development, education, health, gender equality and integration, particularly for immigrants and refugees," said Gianni Infantino during his speech (full text available to download).
