UEFA: video assistant referees to be used from the knockout stages of the 2018-19 Champions League

The UEFA Executive Committee has decided to introduce VAR (video assistant referees) from the knockout stages of the 2018-19 Champions League (from 12/02 to 13/03/2019), after its meeting in Dublin (Ireland), "following successful technological testing and the training of referees over the last few months," said the European Confederation on 03/12/2018.

"In addition, the committee decided to also use VAR at the UEFA Europa League Final 2019 (at the Baku Olympic Stadium, Azerbaijan, on Wednesday 29/05/2019), in the UEFA Nations Leagues Finals 2019 (from 05 to 09/06/2019 in Portugal) and in the final tournament of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2019 (from 16 to 30/06/2019 in Italy and San Marino)," added UEFA.

"As already decided during the September meeting of the UEFA Executive Committee, VAR will then also be used in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League, as of the play-off stage of the competition, and at the 2019 UEFA Super Cup.
