Ballon d'Or 2018: Luka Modric (Real Madrid) and Ada Hegerberg (Olympique Lyonnais Féminin) crowned

Luka Modric, a 33-year-old Croatian international, has won the 63^rd edition of the Ballon d'Or awarded by the French weekly France Football, at a ceremony held at the Grand Palais (Paris, FRA), on 03/12/2018. Winner of the 2018 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) and finalist of the World Cup with Croatia, the midfielder beat the Portuguese international Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid CF then Juventus FC, Serie A TIM) and French international Antoine Griezmann (Club Atlético de Madrid, LaLiga Santander) to the prize.

Ada Hegerberg, a Norwegian international and Olympique Lyonnais player (Division 1 Féminin), won the first edition of the Women's Ballon d'Or. The 23-year-old won the 2017-18 Division 1 Féminin and the 2018 Women's Champions League.

The Kopa 2018 Trophy, a new prize awarded by France Football to the best under 21 player, was awarded to the 19-year-old French international Kylian Mbappé. The Paris Saint-Germain striker (Ligue 1 Conforama) won the 2017-18 Ligue 1 Conforama with his club and the 2018 World Cup in Russia with France.
