France: Ligue 2 TV rights for Mediapro and beIN Sports (€64m/year), no bid for the Coupe de la Ligue

Domino's Ligue 2 broadcasting rights in France, for the 2020-2024 cycle, have been allocated to the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro and the Qatari pay-TV group beIN Sports for €64m per year, or nearly three times the value of those for the current cycle (2016-2020), on 04/12/2018. The LFP did not receive any offers for the rights to the Coupe de la Ligue BKT of which a call for tenders was launched on the same day as those of the Domino's Ligue 2, on 06/11/2018.

"These results are historic and far exceed our expectations. They prove the attractiveness of French football and will make it possible to catch up with our European neighbours. They fuel the virtuous circle that makes our football more competitive," said Nathalie Boy de la Tour, president of the LFP, on 04/12/2018.

Mediapro acquired lots 1 and 4 and beIN Sports, lots 2 and 3 (see lot details below). Canal+ submitted a qualitative offer for the Domino's Ligue 2, but did not submit a financial offer. Altice France did not participate in the call for tenders.
