Cristiano Ronaldo awarded the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2013, ahead of Lionel Messi and Franck Ribéry

Cristiano Ronaldo, Real Madrid's (Liga, ESP) Portuguese forward, was awarded the FIFA Ballon d'Or 2013 on the 13/01/2014, in Zurich (SUI).

First Portuguese player to be awarded the trophy twice, the winner of the 2008 Ballon d'Or finished ahead Lionel Messi (Argentina, FC Barcelona) and Franck Ribéry (France, Bayern Munich).

Despite the fact that he did not win any trophy with Real Madrid in 2013, Cristiano Ronaldo scored 69 goals in 59 matches during the year 2013, or 1.16 goals per game.

  • Franck Ribery won five trophies with Bayern Munich (Bundesliga, GER) in 2013: the Bundesliga, the German Cup, the Champions League, as well as the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Clubs World Cup.
    • The French was also named "UEFA player" of the 2012-13 season.
  • Winner of the four previous editions of the Ballon d'Or, Argentine Lionel Messi scored 45 goals and achieved 16 assists in 47 matches in 2013, but he was wounded six times.
    • He injured his left thigh on the 10/11/2013, and was unavailable until the 08/01/2014.
