NHL: Seattle (USA) home of the 32^nd franchise of the National Hockey League from 2021-22 ($650m)

"The NHL Board of Governors voted unanimously to approve the expansion application from the NHL Seattle group to bring the yet-to-be named team into the league for the start of the 2021-22 season," said the North American National Hockey League on 04/12/2018.

The project is driven by the group of owners of the future franchise headed by David Bonderman (co-founder and chairman of the investment company TPG Capital), Jerry Bruckheimer (American movie producer), Tim Leiweke (CEO of Oak View Group) and brother Tod Leiweke (former COO of the NFL and CEO and president of the future Seattle franchise).

This group of owners will pay the league $650m (€572.6m on 12/04/2018) for the rights to obtain a new franchise, or $150m more than the Black Knight Sports & Entertainment consortium (led by Bill Foley) paid for the Las Vegas Golden Knights, the last team to join the league from the 2017-18 season, on 22/06/2016.
