With an average of 4.7 sponsors on their official outfits, Ligue 1 clubs are, among the clubs of the five major leagues, those with the most partners visible. In contrast, clubs in the Premier League and in the Bundesliga only display one shirt sponsor on their uniforms. Clubs in the Liga BBVA have an average of 1.7 sponsors, but large disparities exist, as seven clubs do not even have a main shirt sponsor. However, Celta Vigo have, for example, four sponsors total visible on their outfit in 2013-14.

In France, clubs sell space on the front of shirts, on the chest, but also on the sleeves, on the back of the shirt, and also on the shorts. The LFP (French Professional Football League) has amended certain rules in June 2012 in order to allow each club to have as many sponsors as it chooses, but also to display these sponsors anywhere on the outfit.
