eSports: 22 DFL clubs participate in the VBL Club Championship on FIFA 19 (January to March 2019)

Twenty-two Bundesliga (13) and 2.Bundesliga (9) clubs will participate in the first edition of the "VBL Club Championship - newly founded by the Deutsche Fußball Liga (DFL) and EA Sports (on the FIFA 19 video game) - as part of the TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga (VBL)," announced the DFL on 10/12/2018.

The "VBL Club Championship", which will crown the German eFootball champions in mid-March 2019, will begin on 15/01/2019, according to the German authority on 22/10/2018, who explained that "participating clubs may nominate a team of two to four players by 21/12/2018."

"Each team will face each other as in a league. Most matches will be played directly online and one top match per week will be played in a television studio. The matches each consist of three individual matches: two matches are played in individual mode (one on PS4 and one on Xbox One). The third game is played in a two versus two mode on a console designated by the club," added the DFL on 22/10/2018.
