Basketball: an easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga game broadcast for the first time in virtual reality

The easyCredit Basketball Bundesliga (German basketball's first division) game, Telekom Basketball Bonn - EWE Baskets Oldenburg (78-98) at the Telekom Domm (6,000 capacity) in Bonn, Germany, was broadcast free of charge, in virtual reality, for the first time via the Magenta VR app, on 09/12/2018.

"With the Magenta VR App, users can watch the teams in 360 degrees in 6K resolution directly from the edge of the court. Telekom uses a particularly innovative technology for the livestream - the so-called Tiled Based Stream. This means that only the moving image in the user's direct field of vision is transmitted in HD resolution," added the German basketball league.

"We want to offer our users the highest streaming quality at all times and even more live broadcasts in the future. Tiled Based Streaming already offers the best VR experience of all time," said Stephan Heininger, head of Telekom Virtual Reality.
