AFCON 2019: federations wishing to replace Cameroon have until 14/12/2018 to submit an application

CAF member federations interested in organising the 2019 AFCON must submit their applications by Friday 14/12/2018 at midnight, Cairo time (23.00 CET), according to the African Confederation, on 06/12/2018.

"The Total 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, with its new formula of 24 teams (instead of 16) scheduled from 15/06 to 13/07/2019, will not take place in Cameroon, as originally planned," announced CAF after its executive committee meeting, at the Kempiski Hotel in Accra (GHA) under the presidency of Ahmad Ahmad (MAD), on 30/11/2018. The decision was based on the results of the recent inspection visits, one of which, from 27/10 to 01/11/2018, concerned safety and another, from 11 to 15/11/2018, was focused on facilities and infrastructure.

The African body then launched a call for applications from all member national federations. "From 15/12/2018, CAF will announce the list of pre-selected applications, request additional information from bidders and possibly organise on-site visits to complete the evaluation of the application files," said the Confederation.
