Cycling: Telefonica title sponsor of the Abarca Sports teams (Movistar Team) until 2021

Telefonica, a Spanish telecommunications group, has extended as the title sponsor of the women's and men's Abarca Sports cycling teams, for the next three seasons until "the end of the 2021 season," according to the company on 16/12/2018. The UCI WorldTour team thus retains the name of "Movistar Team", named after the pay-TV offer of the Spanish group.

"Movistar has been the team's main backer for the last eight seasons (since 2011), giving life to a legendary organisation in cycling, which will reach its 40^th year of uninterrupted pro activity in 2019," said Movistar on 16/12/2018. The team notably includes Spaniard Alejandro Valverde, the 2018 world champion.

According to the cycling team, "in addition to their sporting results, the Movistar Team's presence in the international peloton has helped bolster cycling's significance as a whole in several aspects:
