Scotland: the former CFO of Liverpool joins Glasgow Rangers to oversee finances

Rangers FC (Scottish 3rd division) have recruited Philip Nash to contribute to the financial recovery of the club, on the 11/01/2014. The Englishman joined the management of Rangers as a consultant to oversee, advise and assist the club to reduce their financial losses. Philip Nash was previously CFO of Arsenal FC (Premier League) and Liverpool (Premier League).

Ally McCoist, coach of Rangers, has signed an agreement to reduce his salary by about 50%. The former Scottish international (61 caps, 19 goals) used to be paid 825,000 pounds (€ 992,000) per year, according to the annual accounts of the club, published in October 2013. Ally McCoist's new salary is not known.

  • The Scottish club are trying to rebuild themselves after being demoted to the fourth division in 2012-13, with an accumulated debt of more than €160 million.
