Germany: a dedicated site, application and e-learning put in place by the DFL to combat match fixing

"The DFL today presented additional measures to prevent match fixing. In addition to the mandatory training for the professional squads of all Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 clubs that has been in place since the start of the season, a revised website, a new app and a new e-learning tutorial have now been launched in order to train players, raise public awareness of the topic and simplify reporting channels," announced the German professional league, on 17/12/2018.

"No matter how protected players are with their high salaries and high media coverage, there is always a risk," said Carsten Thiel von Herff, a lawyer and joint mediator between the DFL and the German Football Association (DFB) for match fixing.

"Carsten Thiel von Herff is the point of contact for players, trainers, coaches, club employees and referees for confidential tip-offs about potential match fixing or other irregularities.
