Copa del Rey: the final will be organised in a host city chosen after a call for candidatures

"The Board of Directors of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), chaired by Luis Rubiales, has today approved the terms and conditions of the call for candidatures to host the final of the Copa del Rey this season (2018-19)," announced the RFEF, on 11/12/2018.

Since the creation of the event in 1903, the final of the Copa del Rey has not had a fixed venue. Until now, the choice of host city has been made after the semi-finals of the competition, after consultation between the Spanish Federation and the two finalists clubs.

A new feature from 2019, will be that the finals of the Copa del Rey, the Copa de la Reina (Spanish Women's Cup) and the Spanish men's and women's Futsal Cups will take place in the same city, on dates chosen in order to create a Spanish "football festival of a recreational, festive and cultural nature that is a meeting point for all fans," said the RFEF. Valencia CF, Sevilla FC and FC Barcelona could be candidates for the 2019 finals, according to Spanish media.
