Rugby: CVC Capital Partners acquires a 27% stake in Premiership Rugby, for a reported £200m

The 12 Gallagher Premiership Rugby clubs have "unanimously" accepted a minority shareholding offer from the Luxembourg investment fund CVC Capital Partners Fund VII, into Premiership Rugby, announced the body on 20/12/2018.

CVC has reportedly offered £200m (€221.9m) to acquire a 27% stake in Premiership Rugby Limited according to the British media on 20/12/2018. "The investment is expected to complete in the first quarter of 2019," said Premiership Rugby.

Premiership Rugby "unanimously" rejected a first offer by clubs to take majority control of CVC, according to the BBC, a British public television group, on 11/09/2018. CVC reportedly offered £275m (€319m) to acquire 51% of the share capital of Premiership Rugby Limited, according to the British media on 05/09/2018.
