"The Italian Football Federation announces that Marco Brunelli will be its new CEO. The former CEO of the Lega Serie A has reached an agreement with the FIGC and, once the statutes are aligned with CONI's guidelines, he will take on the role of secretary general," said the FIGC on 20/12/2018.

"I am proud of president (Gabriele) Gravina's proposal because it represents a professional challenge that is both demanding and stimulating and fascinating. For those who have worked in the world of football for a long time, being able to give their contribution to the FIGC is a privilege. I would like to thank the president of the Federation and the entire Lega Serie A, which has allowed me to grow professionally and personally for 21 years," said Marco Brunelli.

Marco Brunelli will only take up his position at the FIGC on 01/02/2019, after having made the transition to Lega Serie A with his successor, Luigi De Siervo, whose appointment was announced by the Italian Professional League on 20/12/2018.
