India: Sony Six to acquire rights to broadcast World Cup in 2014 and 2018

Indian pay TV channel Sony Six has acquired the exclusive broadcast rights in India for the World Cups in 2014 (Brazil, from the 12/06 to the 13/07/2014) and 2018 (Russia), the company announced, on the 15/01/2013.

The rights acquired by Sony Six from FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), also include the exclusive broadcast rights in India for the 2017 Confederations Cup (Russia) and the 2017 U17 World Cup, which is being held in India.

"Considering the rise of youth interest in the sport, football fans in India can look forward to the best international football experience on Six," said NP Singh, President and CEO of media group MSM India, and owner of Sony Six.
