LaLiga Santander: Real Sociedad will no longer partner with betting operators

The Real Sociedad de Futbol (LaLiga Santander) socios have decided that the club will no longer sign partnerships with betting operators, after a consultation held from 18 to 20/12/2018.

According to the club, 86% of the 6,638 socios who participated in the consultation voted against the following question: "Do you approve of Real Sociedad entering into partnership agreements with betting operators in the future?" Real Sociedad is the only LaLiga Santander club that does not have a partnership with a betting operator during the 2019-20 season.

The Basque club - which does not have a main shirt sponsor in 2019-20 - refused an offer from Betway in the summer of 2018. The online betting and gambling operator based in Malta reportedly proposed an offer between €2-€3m per season to become the Basque club's main shirt sponsor.
