Tokyo 2020: third version of the organisational budget set at ¥600bn (€4.6bn)

The organising committee for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games (JPN) has announced a third version of its budget at ¥600bn (€4.68bn on 02/01/2019), on 21/12/2018.

The organising committee, which specified the allocation of certain costs (see details below), presented a budget equivalent to the second version made on 22/12/2017, with some adjustments including an increase of ¥10bn (€78m) in sponsorship revenue at ¥320bn (€2.5bn). Sponsorship now accounts for 62.6% of the budget compared to 61% in the second version.

The total cost of the event is ¥1.350bn (€10.54bn) of which ¥750bn (€5.85bn) will be borne by the Japanese State and the City of Tokyo (see details below).
