France: the 2018 World Cup on TF1 posts the nine best TV audiences of the top 100 in France

The 2018 World Cup posted the nine best TV audiences in France (eight matches, including six France games, and the awarding of the Cup ceremony), all programmes combined, in 2018. The free and private-TV channel TF1 broadcast 28 of the 64 matches of the competition (beIN Sports broadcast all matches); 22 of these 28 matches were ranked in the Top 100 of the best TV audiences in France in 2018.

While the previous year the 2017 World Handball Championships final (France - Norway, 33-26) had the best sports audience and the fifth best audience across all programmes, football was the only sport represented (36 times) in the Top 100 TV audiences in 2018.

14 of the France matches (seven World Cup matches, three pre-competition matches and four Nations League matches) are included in this ranking. The 2017-18 Europa League final, Olympique de Marseille (Ligue 1 Conforama) - Club Atlético de Madrid (LaLiga Santander) played on 16/05/2018 (0-3), broadcast on the free-TV channel M6, was the only club game to make it into the Top 100 (85^th).
