Premier League: Everton to consider the construction of a new stadium on the outskirts of Liverpool

Everton (Premier League, ANG) are considering the possibility of building a new stadium on the outskirts of Liverpool, announced the EFCSA (Everton Shareholders' Association) on the 14/01/2014.

Robert Elstone, CEO of the club, has ensured the EFCSA of his willingness to build a stadium to replace Goodison Park (40,000 seats), home of Everton since 1892. The club has not specified which venue they were considering but they assured that it would be located in the suburbs of Liverpool. In 2007, a plan to renovate and expand Goodison Park was abandoned.

"Mr Elstone explained that discussions and high level planning continues with up to one and a half days per week of his time being spent on this," stated the EFCSA. The club is looking for the ideal site in collaboration with the municipal council. "The project would provide a significant amount of regeneration in Liverpool. It will be the agenda of the next board meeting, on the 05/02/2014."
