LaLiga Santander: Aitor Elizegi succeeds Josu Urrutia as the new president of Athletic Club

"Aitor Elizegi has been elected as the new president of Athletic Club (LaLiga Santander)," said the Bilbao (ESP) club, on 27/12/2018.

Restaurant entrepreneur Aitor Elizegi received 47.90% of the 19,340 votes cast, defeating candidate Alberto Uribe-Echevarria (47.46%) to the post. The results of the election are the closest ever in the history of Athletic Club.

Aitor Elizegi succeeds Josu Urrutia, president of the club since July 2011, who announced on 07/11/2018 that he would not stand for a third term as head of the club.
