CAF: Egypt replaces Cameroon as the host country of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations

The Egyptian Football Association has replaced the Cameroonian Football Federation for the organisation of the 2019 Total Africa Cup of Nations, according to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following a vote at its executive committee meeting in Dakar (Senegal) on 08/01/2019. The competition will therefore be held in Egypt, from 15/06 to 13/07/2019.

Egypt will host the AFCON for the fifth time, after hosting previous editions of the competition in 1959 (United Arab Republic), 1974, 1986 and 2006. Egypt will also host the The Total Africa U-23 Cup of Nations in 2019. "I would like to thank the two candidate countries (Egypt and South Africa) that came to CAF's rescue when we saw that the progress of the work in Cameroon was not satisfactory," said Ahmad Ahmad, president of CAF.
