Germany: DFL launches #BeWhoeverYouWant winter content campaign to connect with global fanbase

"Germany's Bundesliga and its global football stars have joined together to launch #BeWhoeverYouWant, a new winter engagement campaign designed to drive excitement ahead of the league’s restart on 18/01/2019. It aims to increase engagement with fans during the winter break by drawing on every football fan's childhood dream of becoming their favourite player," announced the DFL on 08/01/2019.

"The campaign’s 'hero' video shows a young fan daydreaming before transitioning into the shoes of his favourite Bundesliga players. Featuring icons like James Rodriguez, Manuel Neuer and Marco Reus, the editorially-driven story is full of exciting and entertaining moments. A global network of media partners, clubs and their players are delivering this campaign in more than 150 countries by using editorial and promotional content produced by the DFL," explained the German League ahead of Matchday 18 of the Bundesliga, which begins the 2018-19 second half from 18 to 20/01/2019.
