Supercoppa Italiana in Saudi Arabia: beIN Sports expresses its disapproval at the Lega Serie A

According to News Tank Football sources, Yousef Al-Obaidly, CEO of the Qatari pay-TV group beIN Media Group, has written a letter to Luigi De Siervo, CEO of the Lega Serie A (since 20/12/2018), in which he criticises the decision to play the 2018-19 Supercoppa Italiana between Juventus FC and AC Milan in Saudi Arabia (at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah on Wednesday, 16/01/2019 at 20:30 local time; 18:30 CET).

"Our chief concern is very simple: Saudi Arabia has been actively a plague of piracy on world sports and entertainment for over 18 months, which is undermining the long-term commercial prospects of Serie A and rights holders worldwide. BeoutQ has been illegally transmitting 10 high definition sports channels since 2017," wrote Yousef Al-Obaidly in the letter.
