1. FC Köln (2.Bundesliga) and Daimler AG (automobiles) have become shareholders of SK Gaming, a German professional eSports club based in Cologne (Germany), on 15/01/2019. 1. FC Köln becomes the first German club to invest in a company specialised in eSports.

"The engagement in eSports is a part of the digitalisation strategy from 1. FC Köln. With which FC wants to open itself to the new demands of its fans as well as to new, younger target groups - with the goal being to strengthen the basis of the football club," said the club, which entered into a partnership with SK Gaming on 30/01/2018. As part of the partnership, SK Gaming advised the club on the eSports market and then provided it with two professional players on the FIFA game.

The SK Gaming FIFA players, representing the 2.Bundesliga club in the "VBL Club Championship", the official competition for DFL clubs (Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga) on the FIFA 19 video game, will display a joint logo for SK Gaming and the Bundesliga club.
