Jérôme Champagne is a candidate for the presidency of FIFA (Fédération Internationale de Football Association), the Frenchman announced during a press conference in London (ENG) on 20/01/2014.

Champagne, who was director of international relations for FIFA, wants a "more democratic, more powerful and more proactive" organisation. He is supported by Pele, whom Champagne defined as "a man of conviction, who was close to his admirers, committed to the struggle against racism and determined to protect the true values of football."

Joseph Blatter, president since 1998, will announce whether he is a candidate or not for a fifth term "before this year's Congress," scheduled on 10 to 11/06/2014 in Sao Paulo (BRA). "I am not yet tired enough to decide that I will retire," he stressed on 16/01/2014.

"I will make my decision at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, or after. Not before," indicated, for his part, Michel Platini, President of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) about his possible candidacy for the presidency of FIFA on 17/09/2013.
