MLS: Austin FC becomes the 27^th club to join the league and will debut in 2021

Austin FC, a club based in Texas (USA), has become the twenty-seventh club to join MLS, and will debut in 2021, according to Major League Soccer on 15/01/2019. "Major League Soccer will become the first major sports league to have a team in the culturally-dynamic city of Austin," said Don Garber, MLS commissioner, who was joined by Anthony Precourt, chairman and CEO of the Austin club at the club's official launch event.

"Austin will soon be home to a new, state-of-the-art soccer stadium located at the city-owned property at McKalla Place in North Austin. The publicly-owned $225m project on 24 acres will feature a 20,000-seat, natural grass stadium and public park that will be entirely funded by Precourt Sports Ventures (PSV), the investor-operator of the club. Groundbreaking for the new stadium will take place later this year and officially open with the club’s historic first home game in the spring of 2021," said MLS.
