France: LFP disciplinary committee gives Paris Saint-Germain a €100,000 fine for ethnic profiling

"Meeting on 28/11/2018, the disciplinary committee of the LFP has decided to place the file under investigation after a referral from the National Council of Ethics on the use of forms including information of an ethnic nature by Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Conforama). Convened on 22/01/2019, the LFP disciplinary committee (...) decided to sanction Paris Saint-Germain with a stiff fine of €100,000," announced the League on 22/01/2019.

"Bertrand Reuzeau, in his capacity as director of the Paris Saint-Germain training centre between 2013 and 2015, is sentenced to a suspended fine of €10,000 and Marc Westerloppe and Pierre Reynaud, in their capacity as heads of the PSG recruitment departments, to a suspended fine of €5,000 each," added the LFP (see full press release below).

"From 2013 to 2018, PSG placed teenagers on file according to their skin colour. The non-recruitment of a young black player in 2014, due to his 'origin' has caused an internal scandal. But the management managed to bury the case and the policy continued until last spring," said the French news website Mediapart on…
