eSports: Sport1 launches the eSports1 pay channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 24/01/2019

Sport1 is launching its eSports1 pay-TV channel in Germany, Austria and Switzerland on 24/01/2019 at 20:00 (CET), said the German pay and free TV group on 23/01/2019.

The first event to be broadcast by the channel is the Chinese tournament "The Chongqing Major" on the Dota 2 game, played from 25 to 27/01/2019. eSports1 programmes will also be available on the new eSports1 application and the "Inside eSports" magazine show will be broadcast the following day on the free-TV channel Sport1.

Sport1 entered into a two-year partnership with the Electronic Sports League (ESL) on 22/01/2019 to offer its competitions: ESL One (Dota 2), the European Masters (League of Legends) and the "Red Bull MEO, tournament on the Clash Royale game. Sport1 also acquired the rights to the highlights of TAG Heuer Virtual Bundesliga (VBL) matches from the DFL.

  • eSports1 will be distributed via the telecommunications operators Vodafone Germany, Telekom, Unitymedia, 1 & 1, T-Mobile Austria, A1 Telekom, UPC Switzerland and Zattoo.
