FC Barcelona: new prediction system for selling seats vacated by season ticket holders

Since 2014, FC Barcelona has been running the "FCB Seient Lliure" (free seat) system, which allows Camp Nou fans to free their seats if they cannot - or do not want to - attend a match. Despite the release of many tickets by season ticket holders via this system, most of them are released within three days of the match, which prevents Barça from selling a sufficient number of tickets per unit to meet demand in the weeks preceding the matches.

Despite having the best average attendance of LaLiga Santander in 2018-19 with 73,366 spectators per match at the Camp Nou, FC Barcelona has a fill rate of only 74% in 2018-19 (14^th best in the Spanish league).
