FIFA: "FIFA considering moving its headquarters to Paris," according to French daily Le Monde

"FIFA is considering moving its headquarters to Paris (FRA). 'Informal discussions' have taken place around this 'embryonic' idea between the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and Emmanuel Macron (President of the French Republic)," reported the French daily Le Monde on 25/01/2019.

"At the Elysée (official residence of the French President), we confirm the holding of 'informal discussions' around this idea, between Gianni Infantino and Emmanuel Macron. This proposal comes from the head of FIFA who met with the President of the Republic on 07/12/2018, in the midst of the 'yellow vest crisis'," wrote the French media outlet which stated that "FIFA neither confirms nor denies these informal exchanges (and) ensures that a departure from Zurich (SUI) and a possible move to Paris are 'not on the agenda'."

"FIFA's headquarters are in Zurich, Switzerland. It may only be transferred elsewhere by decision of the Congress," provides for Article 1 paragraph 2 of the International Federation's Statutes (document to available to download).
