UEFA: N. Al-Khelaifi (Paris Saint-Germain) to join the Executive Committee as ECA representative

Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the Qatari president of Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1 Conforama), has been elected to the UEFA Executive Committee as ECA representative, according to the European Club Association on 30/01/2019.

"The UEFA Executive Committee is UEFA's supreme executive body, which comprises the UEFA president (Aleksander Ceferin since 14/09/2016) and 16 other members elected by a UEFA Congress, plus two elected by ECA and one by European Leagues," stated the ECA.

"Nasser Al-Khelaifi will take up the second ECA seat on the committee alongside ECA chairman Andrea Agnelli (and of Juventus FC, Serie A TIM), replacing Ivan Gazidis (who left Arsenal FC, Premier League to join AC Milan, Serie A TIM)," added the ECA.

"The members of the Executive Committee elected by the ECA cannot belong to clubs affiliated to the same Member Association," stipulates Article 21, paragraph 2 of the UEFA statutes: it was this rule point that forced the ECA to replace Ivan Gazidis.

The appointment of Nasser Al-Khelaifi is in accordance with UEFA's statutes and subject to confirmation by the Congress. The 43…
