"We are not here to kill clubs. But we won't drop Financial Fair Play! The rules have been established by all the families of football, for everyone! It is logical to enforce them," said Michel Platini to NTF on the 21/01/2014.

"Clubs can borrow if they wish, and even as much as they wish, for long term investments," said the president of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations) about the Financial Fair Play regulations, adopted in 2009 by the European body and whose basic principle prohibits any club aligned in European competition to spend more money than it generates.

"Now we'll see what happens. I do not know what will happen. Maybe it will go well, maybe it will go wrong," said Platini, who also discusses in this interview the values of football and the dangers that threaten them, with, in the first place, match-fixing, which he considers "the number one danger." The interview also addresses the problems of violence, racism and the excesses related to transfers.
