LaLiga 1|2|3: CF Reus supended from competitions for three seasons, due to unpaid wages

LaLiga has ordered the suspension of CF Reus (LaLiga 1|2|3) from all professional competitions for three seasons and imposed a fine of €250,000 on the club on 28/01/2019. Ranked 20th (out of 22) in the 2018-19 LaLiga 1|2|3 table after 23 matchdays (with 21 points), CF Reus will not play in the second half of the Spanish second division season and all its scheduled opponents will each be awarded three points.

According to LaLiga the Catalan club has been sanctioned for "breach of the duties or commitments taken on - in the form of non-payment of monthly salaries - with its players, with the extremely serious additional consequence that six of its players have had to leave the club." The Spanish league had already decided, on 18/01/2019, to suspend CF Reus' sports rights, following the club's financial difficulty, which, according to several Spanish media, was in debt for around €5m.
