Athletic Club: 48,121 spectators at San Mamés, a record attendance in Spain for a women's match

The Athletic Club - Atlético de Madrid (0-2), quarter-final of the Copa del Reina (Women's Spanish Cup), drew 48,121 spectators at San Mamés Barria (53,332 capacity) on Wednesday 29/01/2019 (kick-off at 19"00 CES), which is a record attendance for a women's football game in Spain, according to the Bilbao (ESP) club on 30/01/2019.

The Athletic Club (LaLiga Santander) had decided to allow its socios free access to the match, even offering them the possibility of inviting two people of their choice. Members of the Athletic Club Foundation as well as those under 18 years of age were also invited to the match, while the price of tickets for the general public was only €5.

This was the thirteenth match played by Athletic Club's women's team in the club's main venue (San Mamés, then San Mamés Barria since 2013). The record attendance for a women's match in Spain was previously held by the Basque club and dated back to a league match versus Híspalis, which drew 35,000 spectators during the 2002-03 season.
