Think Football 2019: "For women's football, I prefer to see the glass half full" (F. Samoura, FIFA)

"Some people prefer to look at the glass half empty, I prefer to see it half full. 450 to 500 million men play football, and FIFA's objective is to reach 60 million women by 2026. At the level of general secretaries of national federations, there were only five women (out of 211 federations) a few years ago. That number has increased to 16 in 2018. There were previously FIFA committees without any women. These bodies now included 17% women. Women now comprise 43% of the FIFA administration," said Fatma Samoura, FIFA secretary general and guest of honour at Think Football 2019 on 07/02/2019.

Four months ahead the opening match of the 2019 Women's World Cup (France - South Korea, Parc des Princes, Paris, FRA, 07/06/2019), Fatma Samoura spoke alongside Brigitte Henriques, deputy vice-president of the FFF, and Béatrice Barbusse, sociologist and secretary general of the FFHB (French Handball Federation), in the discussion panel "Women as the future of sport", as part of the third edition of Think Football, organised by News Tank Football at INSEEC U.
