AS Monaco: the club will pay €50 million to the LFP and can keep its offices in the Principality

"The LFP (French Professional Football League) and AS Monaco signed today a memorandum of understanding that puts a definitive end to the dispute that has lasted for over a year," said the League, on the 24/01/2014.

"In the interests of fairness and balance to the competition, AS Monaco are committed to pay a voluntary amount, fixed and final at €50 million, to the LFP and to withdraw the appeal brought before the Council of State. Both parties welcome the agreement," added the LFP.

"Under the terms of this agreement, AS Monaco are assured of participation in the Championship of France, while maintaining their place of management in the Principality of Monaco," said the LFP.

The Council of State was to examine, on the 29/01/2014, the legality of the previous decision taken by the LFP on the 21/03/2013 to force AS Monaco to place their head offices in the French territory before the 01/06/2014. The League had wanted to align the Principality club with the French taxation and social security system.
