USA: U.S. Soccer Federation expects annual budget surplus of 3.17 M$ (-14.3%) in 2014-2015

The USSF (United States Soccer Federation) expects a budget surplus of $3.17 million (€ 2,32m) in fiscal year 2013-2014, on the 23/01/2014. It is the second straight year the USSF has reported a budget surplus, down 14.3% ($ 3.7m - € 2.7m) compared to the previous fiscal year. For the fiscal year 2014-2015 (01/04/2014 - 31/03/2015), the Federation is expecting a surplus of $ 5m (€ 3.6m).

“We are presenting a budgeted operating surplus,” the USSF budget report states. “We will soon be entering the next phase of commercial support and sponsorship contracts in 2015, [and] we have already begun strategically planning for the next tier of expansion.”

The USSF and Nike, the federation’s official kit and equipment supplier, also extended their relationship until 2022. The current contract with Nike finishes at the end of 2014. New contract terms have not been disclosed, but a significant increase on the $12.6 million (€ 9.23m) Nike paid in 2013 is expected.
