"The Presidents of the Argentine Republic, Mauricio Macri; of the Republic of Chile, Sebastián Piñera; of the Republic of Paraguay, Mario Abdo; and the Republic of Uruguay, Tabaré Vázquez; have agreed to submit a joint bid to host the 2030 World Cup," announced the Chilean President Sebastián Piñera, via Twitter, on 14/02/2019.

"The Presidents, through the four respective football federations (AFA, ANFP, APF and AUF), have decided to submit a bid to FIFA, after communication with CONMEBOL, with the common position intended to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first World Cup, held in Uruguay in 1930," added Sebastián Piñera in another tweet.

Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay had formalized (without Chile) their joint candidacy in Buenos Aires (ARG) on 04/10/2017, in the presence of the three heads of state concerned (Mauricio Macri, ARG; Tabaré Vasquez, URU; and Horacio Cortes, PAR); Gianni Infantino, FIFA president; Alejandro Dominguez, CONMEBOL president; and the presidents of the three candidate Federations. The host of the 1962 World Cup, Chile joined the bid in 2018.
