Spain: Telefonica (Movistar+) acquires Ligue 1 Conforama and Serie A TIM broadcasting rights

Telefonica, has acquired, for Spain, the exclusive broadcasting rights to the Ligue 1 Conforama (via BeIN Media Group) and the Serie A TIM (via IMG) "from 22/02/2019," said the Spanish telecommunications and pay-TV group on 20/02/2019. The matches will be broadcast on the channels of its Movistar+ pay-TV offer.

The value of each of these agreements, valid until the end of the 2019-20 season, is estimated at €2m per year according to Spanish media.

Telefonica succeeds the Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro, which holds these rights as part of its joint venture with beIN Media Group. Telefonica acquired, under sub-license from Mediapro, the broadcasting rights in Spain of the Champions League and the Europa League for the 2018-2021 cycle on 28/06/2018 (see below).
