Eusebio Di Francesco, manager of Sassuolo (Serie A), has been sacked, announced the club on the 28/01/2013. Paolo Mandelli replaces him on an interim basis, pending the establishment of a new technical team.

Di Francesco has managed the team since the 19/06/2012. The Italian coach won the 2012-13 Serie B championship (Italian 2nd division) with Sassuolo. The club was then promoted to Serie A for the first time in its history. The dismissal of Di Francesco is the sixth managerial change in Serie A since the 01/01/2014.

The club thanked the manager on its website "for all of the important work he has done in the past 19 months and for the successes that make him an indelible part of the club’s history."

After 21 Matchdays, Sassuolo is 18th in Serie A with 17 points (4 wins, 5 draws and 12 losses), 39 points behind leaders Juventus (56 points). Sassuolo is 1 point behind Chievo and Bologna for the 17th and final non-relegation place.
